We are thrilled to welcome mahjong expert Barney Gallassio to Rose City Mahjong to lead us in a deep dive review of the 2026 card, sharing his tips for transitioning to a new card, strategies for pivots and backup hands, and answering all of your questions. Whether you are a new player or a mahjong scholar, this lecture is for everyone!

Barney has been playing mahjong for 11 years and it has basically taken over his life - in the best possible way! Hailing from Old Tappan, New Jersey, Barney plays socially and competitively, and travels across the country for tournaments. 

You may recognize Barney’s name from his active participation in the Facebook group “Mah Jongg That’s It!” which has over 200,000 members. For the last several years, Barney has presented his New Card Review on Zoom with last year's discussion reaching over 5,000 live participants.
